Materials Recycling Facility

Shanks’ materials recycling facilities (MRFs) are designed to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by recovering, recycling and reusing as much material as possible.

General waste is received at the MRF and goes through a variety of mechanical and manual processes to obtain maximum recovery of materials. After processing, the materials are sorted into categories such as cardboard and paper, aluminium, glass, wood and metals. Each category can then re-enter the manufacturing process as a valuable commodity.
