Anaerobic digestion
Anaerobic digestion involves breaking down organic waste – such as food, farm manure and waste water – into compost in an enclosed, oxygen-free environment.
The process creates a fertilizer and a biogas which can be used as a fuel. Because the waste is composted in a closed building it takes up less space, creates fewer odours and is processed faster.
In-vessel composting
In-vessel composting is suitable for large amounts of biodegradable waste, including meat, animal manure and food scraps. The waste is composted in an enclosed reactor, in which the temperature, moisture and air flow are controlled. As a result it produces very little odour.
